Halls Magnum 8x12 Greenhouse

starting from
£718.00
FREE Base Plinth - colour matched to your greenhouse

The Halls Magnum 8x12 greenhouse is a good choice for the keen gardener requiring a large growing area. The extra eaves height and double doors as standard make this a practical and affordable greenhouse, with plenty of space.

The Halls Magnum comes with a 12 year guarantee

The Halls Magnum range of greenhouses offer good value for money.

These aluminium framed greenhouses come equipped with many features which are detailed in the accordions below.

The Halls Magnum greenhouse comes with horticultural glass as standard as, traditionally greenhouses have been glazed with this to keep costs low. Each pane is 2ft x 2ft or smaller and is held in with spring wire ‘W’ clips and ‘S’ clips where panes overlap.

We recommend upgrading to toughened glass which is a much safer option. This is far stronger glass, better able to withstand damage from children playing ball or accidents when someone falls against the glass.

A third option, twin wall polycarbonate, is also offered.

Halls separate base

The Halls Magnum greenhouse requires a base and cannot be erected straight onto slabs or concrete.

A brick surround can be laid out, but a better and cheaper option is the galvanised steel base, which can be purchased in addition. This allows the lean to to be erected directly onto a soil site, the corner anchors of the base just need to be concreted into position to secure it.

If you prefer to construct a brick plinth then we can provide you with the exact outside base dimensions. The bottom cills of the lean to overlap the brickwork so it is important that the base is built exactly to these dimensions.

The Halls Magnum 8x12 greenhouse comes with four roof vents.

You can improve the ventilation by adding a louvre vent and an automatic roof vent opener for convenience and automatically controlled ventilation.

Halls 12 year guarantee

Every Halls greenhouse is backed by a 12 year guarantee – so you know that you are buying a product that can be enjoyed for years to come.

Width (W) 8ft 5ins    |     Length (L) 12ft 7ins     |      Ridge (R) 8ft 6ins     |      Eaves (E) 4ft 10ins     |     Door (D) 6ft 6ins     |     Doorway (O) 3ft 10ins     Note.  Optional base adds 5ins to (R), (E), and (D)

Q. Can this greenhouse be sited directly onto my garden?
A. Yes, provided you have ordered the optional galvanised steel base. You must secure the greenhouse by concreting in the ground anchors.
If you are siting it on a lawn then be sure to take the top level of turf off. Cut the lawn back at least a spade width all round so that you don’t have grass growing right up to the edge of the greenhouse. You could fill this area with shingle after the greenhouse is installed.

Q. Can I lay a brick surround?
A. Yes this is possible, the brick surround would need to be built to the exact dimensions supplied in the base plan. It is recommended that solid engineering bricks are used.

Q. What about laying slabs round the perimeter for the base to sit on?
A. As this greenhouse requires a raised plinth, a flat slab perimeter would not be suitable unless you select the optional galvanised steel base plinth.

Q. Can I erect the greenhouse on a paved patio or concrete area?
A. No, this greenhouse requires a raised brick plinth. However, there is an optional galvanised steel base available which can then be fitted onto a paved or concrete area. Exact greenhouse base dimensions can be provided.

Q. How do I fix the greenhouse down?
A. Soil (with optional galvanised steel base plinth) - dig a hole at each point and concrete the ground anchors into position.
Brick surround: You will need to drill holes into yourhardstanding base and fix the greenhouse down using screws and rawl plugs.

Q. Is drainage a problem?
A. You’ll be sloshing a lot of water about inside the greenhouse all year round so it is a very good plan to allow this to drain awayrather than sit in puddles inside the greenhouse. For further information please contact service@greenhousesdirect.co.uk

Upgrade options

Halls Colour Options

Halls colour options

The Halls Popular comes in a natural aluminium frame as standard, with a Forest Green paint finish available at additional cost.

Glazing Options

Halls glazing options

As standard, Halls greenhouses are supplied with 3mm horticultural glass. However, whilst low in cost, there is a sacrifice of safety and today the trend is towards safer and stronger glazing alternatives. Two glazing upgrade options are offered.

Twin wall polycarbonate has the advantage that it offers increased insulation, which may be useful in the winter months. It does, however, suffer from two major disavantages - it's so light that it makes the greenhouse vulnerable to wind damage and It also reduces light levels, which can be a problem for your plants.

Toughened 3mm glass is the best option as it offers a good degree of safety, should an accident occur. It also has the advantage of a larger pane size, which means no overlaps, which would attract dirt and algae.

Base Options

The galvanised steel base allows the greenhouse to be erected directly onto a soil site, the corner anchors of the base just need to be concreted into position to secure it.

It is available in a powdercoated green finish to match the greenhouse.

Extra Ventilation

The right combination of roof vents and side louvres allows you to take complete control of your ventilation. Air can enter low down through side louvers, circulate up through the greenhouse, and escape out of the roof vents. Ideally fit more than one louvre to all but the smallest greenhouse.

Roof vents also work best in conjunction with automatic roof vent openers which are solar powered, very reliable and absolutely brilliant at regulating the temperature. Fit one per roof vent, choose from toughened glass or polycarbonate to match your greenhouse.

It really is worthwhile ordering extra ventilation along with your greenhouse, as it’s inconvenient and much more expensive to add once the greenhouse is erected.
