Rhinos aren't run of the mill greenhouses. Rhinos are designed to be different, offering a degree of elegance, strength & safety not found in other greenhouses on the market today. If you are passionate about your garden, make room for a Rhino!

The greenhouse market hadn’t changed in 30 years, so it was like a breath of fresh air when we launched the Rhino 10 years ago. Suddenly there was a greenhouse with the emphasis on strength and quality, which introduced new glazing techniques, features and

standards of ventilation – all at very keen prices.

Because we manufacture the Rhino in in our own factory and sell direct to the public, the Rhino costs around 33% less than if we sold it through agents!

New in 2009

2008 was a busy year at the factory, with the introduction of the 10 and 12ft wide models and the Rhino Plus. 2009 not only sees the introduction of the Rhino Basic but also major advances across the range, improving the Rhino still further (please see the RHINO improvement link on the left).

Safety Matters

Safety really does matter in a greenhouse – glass is dangerous! Rhino glass is 33% thicker than most greenhouses, toughened (will crumble into 1000’s of small pieces if you manage to break it) and as good quality as you would have in your double glazing! Moreover, there’s no unsightly and draughty overlaps.

Height Matters

At 8'4" to the ridge, an 8ft Rhino is by far the tallest in its class, ensuring your plants are well away from the hottest part of the greenhouse. There’s plenty of height for the hanging basket rails too. The door entry height of 6'5" is taller than any we know of.

Strength Matters

With our changing climate we have seen an increasing amount of damage due to storms & gales. The ability of a greenhouse to withstand high winds is dependent upon the strength of the frame. All too many greenhouses are built down to a price these days, the thinner the frame the cheaper it is to make.

The major sections of a Rhino are far heavier than many models from well respected manufacturers:

eaves up to 50% thicker

glazing bars up to 30% thicker

ridge up to 50% thicker

door sides up to 30% thicker.

Robust (heavy, 3mm "T" section)
braces are fitted to every ridge
and eave bar greatly adding to
the Rhino's enormous strength. More…….

Hanging Basket Rails

What a good idea!. These allow up to 16 planted baskets to be suspended from the roof, saving vast amounts of space on your stagings. Use them for growing strawberries or tomatoes too!

Ventilation Matters

Adequate ventilation is absolutely crucial to successful growing under glass. In designing the Rhino (except the Basic)we aimed for the ventilation to equal 1/3 of the floor area of the greenhouse. This is a very tall order and one that we believe no other greenhouse comes close to achieving. We had to design special roof vents, two and three times the normal size in order to reach this goal. We also increased the size of the louvre vents by 40% for the same reason. All the roof vents in a Rhino are controlled automatically and without the need for electricity! All this is included as standard in the price of a Rhino.

Ventilation is expensive, so it will not surprise you that most greenhouses are sold with inadequate ventilation in order to keep the price down. Not the Rhino.

Further climate control can be gained by adding Groblinds to the outside of the greenhouse, see link left.

Potting Pal

Rhinos are available up to 20ft long without a join (extension). If funds and space allow, select a larger model, it will almost certainly pay in the long run. We frequently supply Rhinos longer than 20ft.

Heavy Duty Base

Every greenhouse needs a base of some sort to support the frame. The 4" tall aluminium base of the Rhino can save you £hundreds simply because you do not need to engage a builder to lay a brick or paving slab base!

The new stainless steel base anchors provide the ideal fixing point whether you are erecting your Rhino onto soil or a slab base.

Flush Door Option

Imagine not having to step over the base, instead being able to walk straight into the greenhouse or take a wheelchair or wheelbarrow through the 4ft wide doorway (8ft Rhino) without the need of a ramp. This is exactly what the Rhino Flush Door option (standard on the Rhino PLUS).

Glazing Beads

The unique Rhino glazing beads add enormously to the strength of the overall greenhouse. The glass cannot be blown or sucked out of the frame, pushing on the glass only locks the beads more tightly into the frame. The glazing beads are used throughout the range with the exception of the Rhino Basic, which uses PVC bar capping.

Appearance matters

When something is well designed it usually looks good too. Rhinos include a number of unique features which enhance both the performance & appearance.

Wire clips are replaced by glazing beads, running the full length of the glass. The beads not only look far more elegant, they also include a soft rubber squeegee edge to retain & seal the glass far more effectively.

A single large pane is used in each side and roof bay, improving appearance (no overlaps to attract the dirt & algae) and making glazing a lot easier too.

Size Matters

Advice from gardening experts is always the same - choose a bigger greenhouse than you think you will need. Indeed the BBC Gardeners’ Question Time team said exactly that in their first programme of 2005.
