Top 5 Large Greenhouses

Consider the following when deciding which large greenhouse is right for you -

If available, a manufacturer supplied base will save time and money and instantly provide a foundation plinth of the exact right size.

Safety glazing helps protect other people and the gardener. For large greenhouses choose toughened glass either 3mm thick, (or better still 4mm in large, single panes). This adds strength to the frame, works better with temperature control systems and is good visually.

Good build quality is important – look for good head and growing room, extra bracing, plenty of ventilation, smooth running doors and sturdy framework backed up with a decent length guarantee.

A comprehensive standard specification will ideally include large amounts of automatic ventilation, side louvre vents, low door thresholds, rainwater kits, glazing beads not clips, hanging basket rails, etc. These may be available as extras but can offer better value and a more integrated look if they are part of the standard specification.

Look also for options to maximise potential including internal partitions, extra doors and ventilation, purpose built staging and shelving, blinds and consider improving appearance with a maintenance free, coloured frame finish.
