Consider the following when deciding which 8x12 is right for you -
A manufacturer supplied base will save time and money and provide a foundation plinth of the exact right size. (Properly laid bricks or concrete could well cost nearly as much as the greenhouse.)
Safety glazing helps protect other people and the gardener. For this size choose toughened glass either 3mm thick, (or better still 4mm in large panes). This adds strength, works better with temperature control systems and is good visually. Twinwall polycarbonate can also provide personal protection if appearance and maximum strength are not top priorities.
Good build quality – look for good head and growing room, extra bracing, plenty of ventilation, smooth running doors and sturdy framework backed up with a decent length guarantee.
Comprehensive standard features such as automatic ventilation, side louvre vents, low door thresholds, rainwater kits, glazing beads not clips, hanging basket rails, etc. These may be available as extras but can offer better value and a more integrated look if they are part of the standard specification.
Options to maximise potential should include internal partitions, extra doors and vents, purpose built staging and shelving, shading and a maintenance free, coloured frame finish.
