Top 5 6x8 Greenhouses

Although attractively priced, cheap, imported models rely upon the bare minimum of lower quality materials plus cheap labour. This is not a recipe for longevity or reliability and they are therefore excluded from our top 5. We recommend your choice should include –

A manufacturer supplied base. Properly laid bricks or concrete could well cost as much as the greenhouse. This will save time and money and instantly provide a foundation plinth of the exact right size.

Safety glazing to help protect other people and the gardener. Toughened glass (especially in large, single panes) adds strength to the frame, works better with temperature control systems and is good visually.

Twinwall polycarbonate can also provide good protection if appearance and maximum strength are not top priorities.

Good build quality – look for good head and growing room, extra bracing, smooth running doors and sturdy framework backed up with a decent length guarantee.

Comprehensive standard features ideally should include large amounts of ventilation (preferably automatic), side louvres, low door thresholds, rainwater kits, glazing beads (not clips), hanging basket rails, etc. These may be available as extras but can offer better value and a more integrated look if they are part of the standard specification.
