The strongly constructed, British made frame of the Classique 12x12 (built to standards higher than less well made competitors and cheap imports!) includes two roof and two louvre vents. Catering for the needs of the ambitious enthusiast, possibly semi-commercial grower, Elite also recommend that a base (typically bricks, blocks or concrete, carefully sized according to their technical information) is provided to support this greenhouse.
We also strongly recommend an upgrade to safety glazing to help protect individuals, children or pets (and the gardener!) Good ventilation, essential for maximising healthy growth of plants, can be improved by adding further roof and side vents plus automatic vent openers can help to flexibly and automatically control airflow. Often a maintenance free paint finish is selected to help the greenhouse blend attractively into its surroundings.
A huge choice of accessories is available, including the exclusive Rhino range of staging and shelving, whilst specialist growers needing a particular specification can choose from customising options like tailoring the size, adding a partition or modifying to sit on a dwarf wall in order to build their perfect greenhouse! Designed to sit on any firm, level surface, the optional, separate aluminium base is a fantastic time and money saver.
Maintenance free, rustproof and immune from warping and rotting associated with wood, it instantly provides a sturdy foundation plinth for the greenhouse and removes with the considerable time, effort and cost of laying bricks, slabs or concrete. On soil, it is held in position by ground anchors which are concreted in place, On a hardstand, the flat bottom lip is drilled and screwed down with appropriate fixings. The plain finish matches an aluminium greenhouse but, if required, a maintenance free, powder coat coloured finish can be applied.
Please note, if a traditional base of bricks, blocks, slabs or concrete is provided instead, it must be precisely level, square and to the exact footprint dimensions for this particular greenhouse (NB these will differ from nominal sizes quoted in sales literature or on this website). Plain aluminium finish. Natural aluminium colour - bright and shiny initially but gradually gains an oxidised top layer to give a familiar 'matt' apperance to the greenhouse framework.
Green powdercoated finish. Lustrous, permanent colour which is maintenance free and highly resistant to marking and chipping. Finish is applied via a lengthy, painstaking process which literally bonds the colour to the metal. Be aware that some cheaper, often imported, models shortcut the process for cost reasons resulting in a less durable finish.

Rhino automatic roof vent opener. Will fit aluminium greenhouses (no drilling required, simply clamps to the frame) or can be screwed to the frames of timber greenhouses. Fitted with a very reliable cylinder for long life.
Rhino automatic louvre opener. This autovent will open and close a standard louvre vent, whether 5, 6 or 7 blades. It is designed for louvres supplied by Eden, Halls, Elite, Europa Manor and Rhinos delivered prior to May 2012. Some drilling is required in order to fit this accessory.
